Internet diffusion of the agri-­food sector

The agri-food sector is one of the pillars of economy. Is this situation reflected on the web? Do companies harness the potential and benefits that the Internet offers? Is there a Digital Divide in the agri-food sector? The main objective of this project is to analyze and verify the presence of the agri-food sector on the web, creating a model of study and evaluation that can be also used internationally and in other areas (e.g. the ICT, etc.).

Objective:

  1. There are not yet studies that carry out an evaluation of the presence on the web of the agri-food sector by means of endogenous metrics
  2. Use of domain name metrics (objective, scalable, - a conscious decision of using the Internet in a more sophisticated manner - Zook 2000)
  3. Creation of a permanent Internet observatory of the agri-food sector:
  • Analysis of diffusion of the different agri-food sectors on the Internet
  • Analysis of diffusion at a geographical level
  • Focus on a specific sector (e.g. wine) regardless of the .it extension
  • The IIT-CNR, thanks to the .it Registry and the partners involved, has the skills and the information necessary for the realization of this project
