Agroindustry represents the second Italian manufacturing sector. Due to the characteristics of the waste produced, it is a candidate for playing a major role in a future "circular economy", as a source of  "green" high value-added production and/or renewable energy. The seminar will analyze the possibilities for energy and material recovery in agroindustries,  discussing some  technological innovations and presenting  the results achieved by a recent research project (ECO-SI project), co-financed by the Lombardy Region. The ECO-SI project is a pilot-scale investigation to recover cheese whey proteins and biofuels energy (biohydrogen and biomethane) from cheese manufacturing wastewaters.
